Life Racing was formed in 2002 in the UK to provide specialist electronics for the professional motor racing industry and OEM automotive suppliers.

Features available on ALL Life Racing Engine ECU products;

Other engine management brands may claim to offer some of the features listed below – the key difference with Life Racing engine management is that all of these features are thoroughly developed and vastly more comprehensive. Life Racing's functions & features are proven at World championship level and the practical lessons learnt there regarding engine/drivetrain protection & achieving optimum performance are applied to all Life Racing products.

A common theme among many "budget orientated" engine management suppliers is to "tick off" the feature list of professional engine management brands with basic undeveloped strategies and then claim to as good if not better than more expensive engine management brands. However professional standard engine management has been priced out of reach for most – until now.

What ever your particular project is (performance road, circuit, drag, drift, offroad, rally) you will have invested much in your projects engine & driveline so it makes sense to have the best possible system controlling & protecting it – Life Racing now makes that achievable.

 

The following features are included as STANDARD on ALL of the Life Racing engine ecu products listed below for the Australasian market (New Zealand/Australia);

* All models have at least 1 on board wide band lambda sensor controller included along with closed loop lambda control with advanced strategies & sensor validation

* All models have advanced closed loop knock control included with at least 1 knock sensor input.

* All models have drive by wire throttle control for at least one DBW throttle body.

* All models have at least 4MB logging included. Logging is cyclic so a log of the last engine running is always available without having to remember to clear the last logs or turn on the logging each time.

* Logging rates up to 1000hz. Logged channels are fully customizable along with individual logging rates and logging start stop conditions.

* The ability to log literally hundreds of channels/parameters.

* "Event" logging and "Burst" logging functions effectively extend the logging memory available but capture events at high logging rates.

* Comprehensive & easy to use data log viewing software including distance or time x-axis, advanced maths functions, overlays, track mapping, lap reports, scatter plots & histograms & many other advanced features. Software suit also includes monitoring software (separate to the tuning software) to allow monitoring of ECU channels, errors & diagnosing problems by the end user without the worry of interfaring with the configuration or tune.

* Advanced engine protection system including oil pressure, differential fuel pressure, coolant temp, oil temp, crank case pressure, battery voltage, warmup, lean-on- load, along with throttle stuck open.

* Advanced Engine Log book facility to track a comprehensive range of cumulative engine parameters to asses if the engine has run under adverse conditions and to track its service life.

* Real time clock means events logged in ecu are recorded against actual time & date.

* Processing: Powerful RISC CPU for advanced strategy execution in addition to a Custom synchronous FPGA processor for engine position tracking and output diagnostics up to 25,000rpm.

* Advanced closed loop boost control with multiple driver selectable boost level targets/ multiple strategies including post turbo restrictor control, turbo speed control, along with conventional manifold pressure based control.

* RS232 serial for communication with other controllers or logging systems.

* All models use a CNC machined, 'o'ring sealed, anodised aluminium case.

* Regular software and firmware updates ensures that the system continues to evolve after purchase.

Upgrade options

All of the features listed above are included across the Life Racing ecu range. Below are some of the more specialised functions that are available as upgrades. Once a feature is added it is indefinite to the hardware.

Gearbox Control: This allows the use of paddle shift gearbox control, including electrometric and pneumatic shifting. Strategies include gear ratio learning, closed loop gear cut, closed loop gear blip, over rev protection and more! Driver selectable strategies. 

Traction Control: Allows the use of up to 4 conditioned wheel speed traction control. Strategies include steering angle and lateral G based & multiple driver adjustments.

Direct Injection fuel pump control: This allows the ECU to directly control DI high pressure fuel pumps using the fast internal high current H-Bridge circuitry.

The F90RX is the flagship of the Life Racing range for the Australasian market. Its substantial number of inputs & outputs are capable of supporting the most demanding applications including 12 or 10 cylinder applications with staged hi/low injection. Life Racing GDI Direct injection Solutions

Life Racing also provide GDI (Direct fuel injection) solutions for aftermarket motorsport applications. Life Racing have been involved with Direct injection at the very highest levels of professional motorsport for over a decade, so the GDI tuning strategies are well proven, advanced & reliable. 

The GDI4 is a dedicated GDI ecu for 4 cylinder applications – alternatively port injection ecus from the F88 or F90 range may be configured to run GDI using the GDI driver unit listed below along with the direct injection fuel pump control upgrade.

gdi driverLife Racing’s direct injector driver is a compact unit capable of driving four fuel injectors at a high voltage, thus catering for the requirements of high-pressure solenoid injectors. The unit generates the complex waveforms required to activate the injectors. The injectors are switched on via pulses from the host ECU.

Supports all GD injectors including parts from Ford, GM and Bosch (including Bosch Motorsport types). Each module has 4 injector outputs with adjustable drive power.

All of this hardware is packaged within a lightweight CNC billet aluminium case. Designed to be installed in the most harshest of motorsport environments.
